Africana Studies practitioners have extended the frontiers of their field to encompass multiple disciplines interrogating the past and the present, the cultural and the material, the political triumphs and the pending agendas, of Black peoples across the globe. In North Carolina Africana scholars continue to explore questions, methods, and debates of local, national, and global relevance, reformulating the discipline to be a source of world learning across Africa, the Americas, Europe, and beyond. On April 8 and 9, 2026, a distinguished crew of national and international scholars will explore these and other questions at the 24th Annual Africana Studies Spring Symposium at the Dubois Center.
