Stephen and Kyra will provide a glimpse into the day-to-day life of data science and engineering in the Retirement and Life insurance industry, and how these skills are advancing the future of financial wellness and providing lifelong financial longevity for teachers.

Bios:

Stephen Rohrer is the Senior Director of Marketing Data Enablement at Equitable, specializing in bridging the gap between people and data through innovative solutions. His expertise spans the Banking, Logistics, and Government sectors, serving both SMBs and Fortune 500 companies. Previously, as Director of Data Products and Analytics at Yodlee, Stephen led a global team and delivered cutting-edge analytics solutions to top financial institutions, securing key B2B partnerships with Fortune 100 banks, regional banks, and credit unions. At TIAA, he was the Head of Data Science, where he established the organization's first enterprise AI team, developed a strategic 3-year AI roadmap, and launched the Data Level-up program. Stephen also teaches as an Adjunct Professor at UNC Charlotte's School of Data Science and sits on the SDS Advisory Board. He holds a Master of Science in Analytics from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor of Science in Business from Elizabeth City State University.

 

Kyra Koch is a Manager and Lead Data Scientist at Equitable, where she spearheads data science initiatives and oversees the development and deployment of machine learning models. Prior to Equitable, Kyra was a Lead Data Scientist at Bank of America where she worked to evolve data science practices and risk management, as well as a Sr. Data Scientist for Discord focused on driving user growth and retention through novel machine learning solutions. At TIAA, Kyra developed models for user engagement, risk assessment, and complaint classification, among other key projects. Kyra holds a Master’s degree in Machine Learning from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she focused on advanced modeling techniques.
