n\n \n\nSend in the Clowns\nChoreographed by: Alyah Baker in collaboration
with dancers\n“Send in the Clowns” asks us to consider the masks we w
ear and the roles we play to be accepted in society. What do we gain by p
laying along? What is lost when we perform so well that we hide our true s
elves? As the cracks begin to show and the facade crumbles\, we have the o
pportunity to choose a new way forward — together.\n\nAs One Does\nChore
ographed by: Audrey Baran\n“Defining myself is like confining myself | S
o l undefined myself | To find myself” – from Goldfish by IN-Q. Create
d in collaboration with the performers\, this work explores sensations of
imposter syndrome\, limiting beliefs\, and prescribed futures. Through con
versation and movement generation\, we challenge ourselves to dispel these
myths and fully embody our potential — because it’s never too late. \
n\neffort/less/perfection\nChoreographed by: Alyah Baker in collaboration
with dancers\nEffortless Perfection: a belief that one must be smart\, suc
 cessful\, attractive\, and popular\, without appearing to make a visible e
ffort. Prevalent among college students\, especially women.\n\nA similar i
dea governs the ballet world\, where dancers train rigorously and work ext
remely hard to appear as if they are not working at all. "effort/less/perf
ection" flips these ideas on their head\, acknowledging and celebrating th
e athleticism\, power\, and effort in ballet instead of the illusion of pe
 rfection.\n\nPassion8\nChoreographed by: E.E. Balcos\n"Passion8" is a tang
o inspired partnering piece. This dance is about the relationships and phy
sical communication expressed between one another.\n\n \n\nSpent Force: Li
ving Waters\nChoreographed by: April C. Turner \n\n"Spent Force: Living Wa
ters" explores African dance functioning as historical document\, social c
eremony and celebration\, in shared time and life. The piece also examines
the manner in which “traditional culture” seems to recede\, yet throu
gh centuries its essence regenerates itself– keeping the cultural root c
onnected and alive\n\n \n\nCheck out the digital programs here.
